Wednesday 20th June 2012

I decided to make the most of the sunshine today as the forecast for tomorrow is not good. I blame Pete (a friend) as he is playing golf tomorrow afternoon!

Instead of taking an array of lenses, I took the wide angle and the macro, leaving the 100-400 at home. First stop, Close Sartfield for the orchids.

Speckled Wood

Common Spotted Orchid

Heath Spotted Orchid

Cuckoo Flower

I next headed to the Ayres. Firstly some lunch, sat in the sun, then a wander around the heath.

Green Tiger Beetle

Moonwort

Not exactly a walk (well, we did walk from the car to the Villa...). Chris and I were lucky enough to be given guest passes for Pigs on The Wing, an eagerly anticipated event as it had been some time since they played together. We were a little nervous, not having done concert photography before but, it was a great night with excellent music and of course, a guest appearance by children from a local school for Another Brick

Saturday 9th June 2012

As the races hadn't gone ahead due to bad weather yesterday, they were supposed to take place today as the low cloud and threatening rain was forecast to clear. We decided to do a walk we had been talking about for a couple of weeks - to park in Laxey and walk up to the Snaefell Mines. If the weather did improve we could possibly walk up to the Bungalow to catch some racing. So, we headed off. It didn't look promising...

We carried on up the track but then, it started to drizzle. around the same time we heard a bird calling - Hen Harrier

As we carried on the rain got heavier. We got as far as the mines and took shelter in the old house whilst phoning a friend to get a road update. Latest was 3:30pm closure. We headed back to the car, at least now the wind was behind us, and had lunch on Laxey front.

We then headed to Ballaglass for a short walk and to see the beast in his summer coat

Saturday 2nd June 2012

Well, today was the first race day of TT. Firstly we headed out to the Ayres for a brief wander as the weather didn't look very promising and we were unsure if racing would take place. After an uninspiring walk, we returned to the car and learnt that racing had started so headed into Ramsey to watch. These are a selection of the many shots I took.

Today I went for a short walk along Ramsey Beach to Port Lewaigue and back. The wreck seemed to have moved since I was last out here and looked more exposed. Apparently it was a cargo ship, moored in the bay with one person on board when it broke free of it's anchor and broke up on the rocks
