Following a very wet night, the sun was shining Saturday morning but, where to go? We really should plan this better!
A brief discussion and we're heading towards Injebreck in the hope of some autumn colours. A walk up the lane and part way round Baldwin reservoir and we're back at the car.
As the sun was still shining we headed towards the fire pool at South Barrule plantation in the hope of dragonflies and, we were rewarded with Black Darters, Common Darter (including co-joined and ovipositing) and large Hawkers - yet to be identified. All was going well until some idiot turned up with his family and dog (really, if you throw one plastic bottle in and the dog doesn't fetch it, why bother throwing in two more?). We headed back to the car park for lunch, sat in the sun until the wasps chased us back into the car.
Next stop, Glen Maye and a walk past the waterfall and down to the beach. Dave suggested walking through to Peel - I think he was only part joking. As we were so near, we had to stop at Peel for ice cream. Dave chose black cherry cream, a big shock as he always has vanilla then, as ice cream makes you thirsty (apparently) we went to The Peveril for a pint of shandy, sat in the sun before heading home.
