Wednesday 26th December 2012

This morning was potentially bright and was definitely dry so, Chris and I decided to head out to Peel in the MR2 with the roof down of course!

We parked by Fenella Beach where Chris was attempting to capture the gulls over the crashing waves. I took a walk along the harbour to look at the decorated boats and spotted Santa behind the wheel of one.

I then went for a walk around the castle

Chris moved down to behind the castle to take pictures of the Purple Sandpiper

and I was distracted by a seal in the harbour eating a rather large fish

Sunday 23rd December 2012

Chris and I decided to start our morning at Ballaghennie. We parked in the pine car park and I set out to walk to the seaward side of the reserve but, due to the flooding across the road and the (usually) dry sandy heath, I didn't make it

Saturday 22nd December 2012

Once again it was raining with little hope of it easing up. Not to be put off, Dave and I first headed into Laxey for a look at the current exhibition at the Hodgson-Loom Gallery. After we came out, we decided to take a stroll along the river, which was in full flow and down to the waterfall.

The mistiness of the shots is due to the amount of water spray on the camera lens even though we were stood back from the fall.

We returned to the car slightly sodden and decided to take a walk in Ballaglass. as we arrived, Dave put on wellies and got an umbrella out of the car!

We returned to the car even more sodden and headed for home

Sunday 16th December 2012

We started our morning with a short walk at Ballaghennie. The sun was shining but it remained cold

As is usual on a Sunday, we then headed up to the Point of Ayre. A wander around the tide line only resulted in a Hooded Crow

Chris was attempting to obtain some Golden Plover shots when, some Turnstone flew in. These proved to be quite confiding until they were spooked by something and flew away

Saturday 15th December 2012

This week we headed to The Sloc in order to try one of the 'Wardens Walks' When we parked up, we decided to do the walk in reverse so that we would be sheltered from the wind (mostly) heading out and would have the wind behind us on our return. The weather was supposed to be fine but, the clouds looked a little ominous

After some lunch, we headed into Port St Mary for a stroll around

Sunday 9th December 2012

Chris and I headed to Axnfell this week, looking for Crossbills. However, on arriving at Axnfell the lack of light and the high winds made the search impossible. We headed back into Ramsey and contented ourselves with some shots along the beach

Saturday 8th December 2012

This week Dave and I started our day in the Curraghs. Initially, it seemed OK but, as we walked around it became progressively darker and wetter. We saw 6 Wallabies, including one in front of us on the path that jumped a stream before we could get a picture. Unfortunately all the ones that stayed long enough for pictures were very hidden

We then headed towards Jurby but, the transport museum was closed and the rain was getting heavier. We turned towards Peel thinking we might get some shelter in the side streets but went for a wander into the Cathedral which was nice, first time I'd been in

The rain was showing no signs of easing so, a quick look around the shops at Tynwald and we headed home, hoping for better weather next week.
