Thursday 26th December 2013

This morning we started at the Garey hoping for some nice shots of more common birds.

We carried on down Jurby Road, hoping to see the swans (they were visible but, no good for pictures). Next stop, Ballaugh Beach

Wednesday 25th December 2013

This morning, Chris and I headed out (after bacon sandwiches) to Mooragh Park. I had a walk around the lake whilst Chris was hoping for birds in the puddles that were in the car park.

We next drove to Ballaghennie. I set off, intending to walk to the shore but was stopped by the flooding.

A trip to the Point of Ayre showed evidence of how high and rough the seas had been.

Sunday 22nd December 2013

A trip to Peel and a walk around the castle only produced a couple of pictures this morning and, it was too cold for ice cream (though the shop was open).

Saturday 21st December 2013

There was no post last weekend as, I was working. This week with the forecast of strong winds (and possibly rain) and high tides, we decided to head south to try to catch some big seas. First stop was Derbyhaven.

We then drove over to Fort Island - this was more like the wind we were expecting.

After Fort Island, we headed over to Scarlett, stopping for the Black Swans on the way

We headed back into Castletown as we had seen some surfers on our way through. Unfortunately, they were mostly sitting around on their boards rather than actually surfing.

Saturday 7th December 2013

Today Dave and I started off at Glen Helen. We had been told that the path to the waterfall had been cleared and, it had. Walking down there was a lot of evidence of storm damage with a number of trees still lying across the path and in the river

We next headed to Peel and took a walk up Peel Hill, via a longer than usual route. It was rather windy up on the hill so, not too many pictures before we headed back down.

Sunday 1st December 2013

This morning, Chris and I headed out to Peel. We had reports of a Kingfisher that had a regular routine and should be fairly easy to see. I left Chris staking it out and went for a walk.

After I returned to the car, we waited in the rain for a short while then, the Kingfisher arrived. It spent some time sat on a branch and fishing and Chris got a few pictures but mine weren't any good.

Saturday 30th November 2013

This morning we started at Ballaglass - the sun was shining and there were still Autumn colours around

Next, we went to Cornaa. Dave suggested a walk around to the next bay which proved to be more taxing than we remembered. We then walked down to the pool

After lunch, we drove to the Curraghs but, had a very unproductive walk around. We decided to try for a sunset but, as the lantern parade was on in Peel, followed by the Christmas light switch on, we went to Jurby Church instead.
