For some time now (a couple of years at least!) I have been talking about getting up early when on holiday, and going to Cashtel yn Ard for sunrise. So, this morning when Chris got up for work, I wasn't far behind him.
I drove down the road in the dark, hoping that the road closed signs weren't meaning this road as it's rather narrow. I parked up by the gate, gathered my camera, tripod and bag (containing cable release, spare battery etc) from the car and set off down the muddy track in near darkness.
I arrived at the monument, set up and waited for the first pink in the sky
At times, as I watched the sky changing colour, I almost forgot why I had crawled out of bed so early and forgot to take pictures.
The moon was out above the trees to the side of the monument, looking quite nice with a pink glow behind them
I left Cashtel yn Ard as the sun came up, taking the pinks from the sky. As I was driving back down the road, I decided to go for a walk around Ballaglass to see how the early morning light was hitting the trees.
As I walked alongside the river, I noticed how the sunlight was hitting the trees but, the water was still in shadow. All the autumn colours looked especially golden this morning
So, back home for a well deserved bacon bap, coffee and a couple of hours editing

Love the third one down of Balaglass Glen. Looks as if getting up early was well worth it.
