Today, Dave and I decided we would first head to Cooil Dharry in search of the elusive autumn colour. We parked at the top of Glen Wyllin, crossed the road and headed down the track at the back of the houses. As went through the gate into Cooil Dharry, we saw there was some colour here
We headed down the path towards the stream, aiming to walk towards the pools where the tree colours had been good last year
There were a few trees with good colour but, not as many as last year and at this stage, no sun to lift the colours. We did however see quite a lot of fungus as we walked around which was quite a surprise as most of it seemed to have gone past it''s best in other places we've visited.
We walked up towards the old mill to see if we could get a safe position above the waterfall to take some shots. No luck but, there was some fuchsia in flower
As we walked back down the path, some overhanging leaves caught my eye
As we got back down to the bridge, we decided to wander along the bank of the stream a short way and, as I had carried my tripod around here, I was determined to use it!
We noticed the sun had come out and there was some blue sky in amongst the grey
A quick discussion ensued as to where we should head next. We decided to stay out in the open with the sunshine and take a walk to White Strand beach so, we headed back towards the car.
We drove towards Peel then along the switchback where we parked. We walked along the road through Lhergydhoo farm, crossed the road and headed along the footpath to White Strand. It is a lovely beach - would probably be very busy in summer if it was more accessible.
After taking a few pictures, it was lunch time so, we settled on a rock in the sunshine to enjoy our lunch, watching the waves crashing on the beach
As we headed back up the path from the beach, we passed a man on his way to fish
By the time we got back to the car, all hints of the sun had gone and the sky was once again grey. We headed to Glen Helen for a walk up to the waterfall and back. On arrival at the car park, Dave joked about needing the flash - it was rather dark under the trees
We walked up as far as the bottom of the falls but decided against heading further up the path
As we headed back down the path, we kept looking back to see if there was a picture and spotted the Beast of Glen Helen - does he know he has a brother in Ballaglass (you may need to use your imagination slightly)
As we were rapidly losing the light and, there looked to be little chance of a sunset, we headed home.
