As forecast, today dawned bright but windy so, I decided to go and have a look at Peel. I parked at Fenella Beach where the sea spray soon coated everything.
As I was leaving the car park in order to walk (or get blown around the castle) I noticed the new wood carving that has been positioned near the entrance
I walked around the castle, but the winds were too strong to take many pictures, in places it was difficult to stand upright
As I came out by the cafe, I went up onto the top for the view across to Peel
As is evident, I spent more time between pictures clearing salt spray from the lens than actually taking pictures. I went back onto the quay and decided to walk along to the end as there seemed to be a lot of birds there
There must have been fish close to the surface as many birds were fishing, including this Shag
Slightly beyond him, the gulls were firstly looking for prey beneath the waves
then, when they spotted something, just dropping their feet in the water to pick it up
As I walked back along the quay, this gull sat long enough for a picture but, not long enough for me to change lenses for a different angle
As I walked back towards Peel, I saw a small flotilla of Eider heading into the shelter of the marina
I headed over the bridge and into Peel. Passing the sailing club, I noticed some people sat outside
The bay was relatively sheltered from the wind but, at the far end of the beach the waves were crashing against the rocks and would probably be over the wall at high tide
Now I just need to decide what to do tomorrow......

Some great pictures there. Thanks for sharing. Like you when I go out walking I take my camera with me and spend more time taking photos than I do walking. Also like you I live in Ramsey and have my own website..

Thanks for the kind comments.
ReplyDeletePete - no problem linking to the site - we also have a website www.iombirding.co.uk - not been updated for a bit though.
I'd rather not reveal details in a public place - can you email me?
