No walk today, as I had to work. All finished in time for the start of the fireworks though. I met Dave by the swing bridge in Ramsey and as we walked across to the Mooragh Park, we discussed where to go for the best viewpoint. Last year, after being set up for 30 minutes, someone came and stood in front of us. Where could we go to try to avoid this? We remembered that last year (we had been on the cafe side) there weren't many people on the seaward side of the lake so, that's where we headed, only to get chased off as the footpath was closed for the event.
We headed to the top of the park and set up on the far side of the wall with our tripods up against it. We decided it was a good option - the footpath was closed so no-one could stand in front of us.
As we were waiting for the show to start, I took a couple of pictures of the park and gathering crowds.
It was only on editing that I realised you can see the lights from traffic on the mountain road.
At 7:30pm the fireworks started. Shooting manually on varying lengths of exposure, we took quite a few shots. Here are a selection.
I was determined to get a picture with fireworks, reflection and moon all in the same shot. So, with the camera at an interesting angle, I got this one
The fireworks ended and everyone started drifting away from the park
So, home to edit. Let's hope the weather is as good tomorrow as it has been today.

Brilliant!!!!!!Think I've found my spot for next year.....Thought where I took them on North Shore Road would be fine but from your position things look a lot better.
ReplyDeleteThanks, we ended up there after being chased off the path but, it was really good. No-one in front of us either. Just needed a really wide angle lens to get them all in!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant pictures, very impressive
