The tide was in, with quite a bit of flooding over the banks
We wandered around the area, seeing a few dog walkers, trees with lots of berries but, nothing much else.
We left Poyll Dooey still without much idea of where to go and then Dave asked if I fancied a little climb. Now, I'm not really that keen on hills - I like the views when I get there but, don't really like going up them so I asked where he had in mind. Cronk Sumark was the reply - one of those places I've often thought about going up. So, we parked at the Claddaghs and walked back to the footpath leading up to it.
Once over the stile, you are basically following sheep tracks. Dave had been here before so, would lead the way (seem to think we've been here before!). We got about three quarters of the way up, part of it by scrabbling up a steep bit when Dave announced we'd taken a wrong turn and had to go down before we could get further up. We carried on around the back of the mound - it is quite a big area and worked our way to the top.
As you can see, it was quite windy on top, Dave perfected the technique of taking pictures whilst hanging onto his hat. We headed down and back to the car and then took a brief stroll along the river deciding where to go next. Ballaugh shore won so, off we went.
We had some lunch whilst we decided what to do next. As it seemed brighter in this area than anywhere else, we thought we were probably best staying somewhere around here. So, we headed to Kirk Michael beach in order to walk towards Ballaugh as far as the Orrisdale Lime Kilns and then back to the beach along the railway line.
Once again we arrived back at the car and wondered if there was going to be a sunset this evening. Dave suggested a drive to Peel but, I quite fancied Jurby Church, it would make for a different sunset setting so, off we went.
It was rather windy at the church and, the promise of the sunset never materialised so, with the light rapidly diminishing, we headed for home
